There are 2 different laws. One is Moses laws (ceremonial), and the other is God's law (10 Commandments). Christ fulfilled the obligations of "the ceremonial law" by becoming the Lamb slain for the sins of the world. He fulfilled the obligation of the law of Ten Commandments by His perfect obedience to its precepts. After His death, "the law of ceremonies" was discontinued because it foreshadowed the cross, but "the law of Ten Commandments" did not change, nor was it done away with. The same law is still to be found in the New Testament and those who follow Christ must continue to live by this law.

Does this verse in (Colossians 2:14) that says "it was nailed to the cross" mean that we no longer need to follow the ceremonial law and the law of Ten Commandments?

This verse refers to only one law: the law that was against us, that showed us our transgressions. This was not the Ten Commandments, but the ceremonial law. When Christ died, he satisfied the demands of justice in the law of ceremonies and blotted it.

There are three major foundations for understanding the covenants and the Old Testament law. All three give the same conclusion. They are

* The old covenant is obsolete, and the new covenant has been established.
* Christians are not obligated to keep “the law of Moses.”
* When Paul discussed “the law,” he was often concerned with the entire law of Moses, and he wrote that Christians were not under the authority of that law.

Our obligation to obey God is defined by a different law, a spiritual law, which in some cases overlaps Old Testament laws but in other cases supersedes them.

Can anyone show me a commandment from Moses laws that Jesus quoted from? I don't believe you will find any because Jesus only quoted from the God's Laws, which is The 10 Commandments.

Also, notice that when Jesus was speaking to the Pharisees he never said "our law" but instead said to them "your law".

(John 10:34) "Is it not written in your Law: 'I have said you are gods' (and all of you are children of the most High?) referring to (Psalms 82:6).

Or how about (Hosea 6:6) "For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings."

And (Mark 7:6-8) 6 He answered and said unto them, "Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. 7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men." 8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do."

And (Romans 2:28, 29) 28 "For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: 29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God."

Also, is it not written that John baptised with water, but Jesus baptizes with the fire of the Holy Spirit? (Acts 1:5 - Matthew 3:11 - Mark 1:8)

MOSES LAW vs GOD'S THE COMMANDMENTS LAW

Many people often confuse Moses Law with God's Ten Commandment Law, but they are very different.

Moses' law was the temporary, ceremonial law of the Old Testament. It regulated the priesthood, sacrifices, rituals, meat and drink offerings, etc., all of which foreshadowed the cross. This law was added "till the seed should come," and that seed was Christ

(Galatians 3:16, 19). The ritual and ceremony of Moses' law pointed forward to Christ's sacrifice. When He died, this law came to an end, but the Ten Commandments (God's law) "stand fast for ever and ever." Psalm 111:7,8.

(Galatians 3:16-19) 16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. 17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. 18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise. 19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

(Psalm 111:7,87 The works of his hands are verity and judgment; all his commandments are sure. 8 They stand fast for ever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness.

There are two laws that are made crystal clear in the following verses below. Daniel 9:10 is talking about God's law and verse 11 is talking about Moses' law.

(Daniel 9:10, 11)10 Neither have we obeyed the voice of the Lord our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets. 11 Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against him.
